Ryan Ferguson Released from Prison After Being Wrongfully Convicted
In 2001, Kent Heitholt was brutally murdered under the illegal glow of the Missouri moonlight. After 2 years, no leads, and little evidence, the case was ice cold. That is until police convinced Charles ‘Charlie’ Erickson that he must have blacked out and killed this man. The story was muffled and the timeline didn’t make sense, but at least someone could be blamed. After a coerced confession, arrests were made and 2 people went to prison: Charlie and his friend Ryan Ferguson, who had claimed his innocence the entire time.
Then came a miracle: defense attorney Kathleen Zellner took the case and dug deep. Kathleen determined that these two men had nothing to do with Kent’s murder, and the truth was about to prevail. After more than 10 years, she was able to get Ryan Ferguson his freedom.
